Elite Allergy Services specializes in providing allergy testing and immunotherapy to patients who suffer seasonal and perennial allergies within qualified provider offices across the nation.
Allergies most often begin with the first sign of summer heat as allergens such as grass, mold, and pollen can bring unwanted symptoms like coughing, sneezing, and watery eyes. In some areas allergy season starts even earlier and can extend well into fall. Additional allergens found within the home such as dust and pets can cause symptoms all year round.
Take the guess work out of your allergies and get tested by one of our trained and knowledgeable technicians. This will allow you to know exactly what is causing your symptoms. Your provider and our medical director, who specializes in allergy, can then develop a treatment plan to reduce or completely eliminate your symptoms.
Should you be tested?
It is important to know what allergies you have to determine a treatment plan. If you are experiencing some or all of the symptoms below, ask your provider for a referral to Elite Allergy Services.
• Itchy eyes, nose and throat
• Nasal congestion or runny nose
• Watery eyes
• Hives, itchiness or other skin conditions
• Shortness of breath or congestion in the chest
• Severe reactions to insect stings
Immunotherapy for allergies, or allergy shots, is a long-term treatment plan to limit or completely eliminate the symptoms in patients dealing with allergic rhinitis, allergic asthma, or stinging insect allergy.
Allergy shots have been shown to decrease the sensitivity of allergens during treatment and continue to provide long term relief outside of immunotherapy. This has created a cost-effective and beneficial way to treat your allergies and live better.
How Do Allergy Shots Work?
Allergy shots are similar to that of a vaccine. Once injected with a small amount of the allergen, your body responds, developing immunity to the allergen with each dose given, gradually increasing over time. Patients starting at 5, and in some cases 2, can start immunotherapy treatment.
Process of Immunotherapy
Build Up Phrase
• This phase involves receiving injections one to two times per week. A increasing amount of allergens is given with each injection. This process can take up to six months.
• This phase begins once the effective dose is reached. This dose will be determined by your allergist with the observation of sensitivity and response during the build up phase. These shots are often given once every two to four weeks.
You may notice a relief in your symptoms during the build-up phase, but it may take as long as 12 months on the maintenance dose to notice an improvement. If allergy shots are successful, maintenance treatment is generally continued for three to five years.
